HD affects the entire family, not just the person with HD.  It affects the entire family financially, socially and emotionally.  Unfortunately, many times our young people are feeling scared, lost and alone.  Often they become the primary or secondary caregiver to either a parent or sibling who is suffering from HD, all of this while living with the knowledge, uncertainity and fear that they have a 50/50 chance of having inherited HD.

Below is information about 2 dynamic groups for young people by young people.  Each group has 2 adult advisors.

HDSA NATIONAL YOUTH ALLIANCE

The National Youth Alliance is for anyone age 9 through 29 who is living with Huntington's Disease in their lives. This could be a pHD (person with HD), someone at-risk, someone who has tested negative, a caregiver, a friend, etc. We are here to support each other, and fight to be the first generation WITHOUT Huntington's.

NYA Mission Statement

  • To provide a support network for youth with Huntington's Disease in their lives.
  • To bring attention and understanding of this disease from the community.
  • To help in any way we can to become the first generation without HD.
